Scheduled an alarm to wake me up at 3:45am (ugh!) to shower and walk over to get in line to be in the first group to be seated at Sushi Dai. Here's the view out my window pre-crack-of-dawn
It was a short walk -- maybe 4 minutes until I ran into a "closed" barrier. There was a couple politely saying there so I stopped, but I worried that this was just the "closed on sunday" sign from yesterday.
Another group of visitors from NYC showed up a few minutes later and agreed with my concern, so we walked to the main building -- a good move since people were already lined up there too!
A few minutes later they opened the doors and we headed to the front of Sushi Dai -- now about 4:10am. We all got stools to sit on, which was good news because if your rear was in a stool then
you were going to be seated in the first seating when they opened the doors! Hurrah!
Sign said "closed" and walkway was partially blocked -- should I stay or should I go?--- Eh..> GO!
Got's me a "waiting seat" so I'm in for round#1 at Sushi Dai!!
Menu's handed out -- fish or cooked fish? It's 4800 yen and you better understand they only take cash!
And the doors are about to open ... rev your ... uh... chopsticks!
And then some eel...
Then we had to pick something for our last item of the set... I picked a scallop
Wonderful meal! And check out what the line outside had grown to in the 45 minutes we were eating...
After a return to the hotel for a "post breakfast nap" I checked out and navigated the train system to head to Ito for my last overnight on this trip.
On arriving at Ito (about 2 hours before check-in time) I locked my belongings up in a train station locker and revisted some of my prior favorites in downtown Ito.
This included a quick stop to the bread/pastry store, a taiyaki stand, and a walk to the beach.
After checking into Yokikan and consuming their welcome snack and tea I took a nice hot onsen
I read a little before my Kaiseki dinner. As usually they did not disappoint! An endless meal of bento-after-bento of wonderful treats:
After that meal, MOST of which I finished I let them change my room into "bedroom mode" (futon) and went to sleep!
