Woke up and took some pictures of cool little room in Okinawa before I left
Had breakfast at a little local cafe
Headed back to hotel for cleanup (it was POURING rain!)
Checked out and locked my bags up at the monorail station... Then walked back to the "fish and meat" market restaurants for a 2nd breakfast...
Headed to the airport... Got there too early to get my boarding pass so I had an ice cream.
This one was sub-standard and not very good (only ate half of it and tossed it).
Got my boarding pass -- a little trouble in that I just had the ongoing flight 6 digit confirm code out of Shanghai (they wanted to verify I wasn't just going there and not leaving) . They really wanted the long ticket number which united had not emailed me! I did dig it up once I got to the gate waiting area by logging in and finding it buried in a receipt of payment... Glad I did because the shanghai customs/immigration people wanted to see that on my iPhone before they'd let me in the country!
Made it through and got some yuen (money) and figured out the ticketing for the monorail and subway system. The subway system was a total sardine can -- wall to wall people and lots of shoving and elbows. Not fun! It was the 6pm commute hour too. Ugh. Anyway, made it to my stop and found my hotel right away. Got checked in and then went out for a walk to find dinner...
Ended up in a huge building filled with different food stands downstairs and some restaurants upstairs. Picked one at random that had hot and sour soup and shanghai soup dumplings...
while fun neither dish was particularly great -- not bad mind you, but nothing exceptional.
I walked back to the hotel to sleep...
