Went down for breakfast at the Northam breakfast buffet this morning with Bob and Shirley.
A bowl of oatmeal I had with a granola and brown sugar topping
After breakfast read a bit by the pool area, packed up and headed to the airport for our trip to Bangkok, Thailand. Lots of traffic getting there, but
the driver did a good job and we made it with lots of time to spare. Got our tickets, checked main bags (limited carry-on allowed) and grabbed some
early lunch at an airport eatery
Chicken, Rice, Egg, spicy chili paste, dried fish, peanuts.
Ah... "Milk Tea" -- so wonderful (tea, condensed milk, sugar)
An interesting sign that you don't see in most airports in the US (or at least I don't recall seeing!)
Had another hour or so to wait for our flight to Bangkok, which passed uneventfully. Flight was okay -- just about 90 minutes.
We landed and quickly made our way through immigration and got our luggage. Bob had arranged for a driver to pick us up to get
us to the hotel. While we waited saw some other travelers that I had to take this picture of!
Drive to hotel was interesting -- here are some shots out the window:
waiting for driver to retrieve car -- temple near airport
glad our ride was enclosed and air conditioned!
Ouch! Some bumper to bumper traffic!
Local tuk-tuk driver and passengers.
Got to hotel after about 45 minutes (and a lot of traffic!) and checked in. Huge rooms! They came with a little kitchen area and a washer/dryer
(I started a load of laundry when I got in!). Will take pictures tomorrow...
Headed out to dinner. Decided on a Thai/Chinese restaurant for our meal. Here's what we got for dinner:
Curry Shrimp Dish (not spicy, very nice flavor)
Papaya Salad Dis
Pad Thai Dish -- Yum!
Crispy Peking Duck Skin! Super good!
The unusual "green" pancakes for the duck (rice based?)
A surprise that arrived at the end - Apparently the "duck feet" if I understood the waiter correctly. Actually pretty good -- like little "ribs"
Bob approves
and Shirley is happy
After dinner we headed back towards a bakery/tea/coffee shop for a little dessert. On the way I snapped a few photos of some street cart/hawker vendors:
Went into the dessert place and ordered from a fine selection of items!

The sitting area upstairs one level had some very cool little statue like figures -- jazz, chef, etc... I took these photos:
