I had arranged to join a foodie tour group and headed out to meet them at 2:15pm. The tour visited 6 different locations with a fair amount of walking
between them. Even this this tour started in the late afternoon and ran until about 6pm it was going to basically be my big "dinner like" meal because
of the amount of food that I suspect (and I was right!) would get consumed.
The first stop was at a wonton soup restaurant. Amazing noodles and wontons.
TSIM CHAI KEE NOODLES
The second stop was at a bbq meat restaurant, "Dragon Restaurant"-- we had bbq pork on rice
This is the oven in their kitchen - kind of like a huge iron maiden! They roast the whole pig for 2 hours and it is done or
the pig shoulder (which cut up is what we had featured above) for 30 minutes.
The third stop was for freshly 'crushed' sugar cane juice at Kung Lee Sugar Cane Juice. They also featured a cat that immediately identified me as a cat friendly visitor!
The fourth stop was at a preserved Fruits shop, Wong Wing Kee
I didn't take any pictures as it wasn't very interesting looking!
The fifth stop was for Dim Sum at "Dim Sum Square"
BBQ Pork Buns - the outside was unique as it was a "flakey and crisp" dough vs the normal steamed or solid baked dough.
Har Gow (shirmp dumplings)
Siu Mai - Pork & Shrimp Dumplings
Egg Rolls (or at least crisp like egg rolls on outside)
the final stop was for egg tart, Hei Lee Cake Shop
I was very very stuffed! Headed back to the condo and passed out for a while, then entered the above info!
I will probably just have a light dinner this evening like last night via the local hawker stand(s). I have some left over Egg Custard, the fruit the hotel left for me as well as one of the egg custard bau
from breakfast to finish off.
