woke up early and migrated from Asakusa to Haneda to fly to Sapporo.
Had a nice breakfast roll and some hot chocolate once I reached haneda airport around 7:30am.
Then after waiting near my gate I got hungry and bought a little "cake box".
But then I found a 'stand up sushi bar' and had some sushi. Saved the cake for later.
Pretty good sushi for an airport!
Had an uneventful flight to Sapporo and after landing locked my bags up at the airport and
went to have lunch. Got a traditional sushi-don bowl, Hokkaido style.
Mine had king crab (out of shell), shrimp, scallops, tamago, salmon roe and some cucumbers.
It was great!
Also came with miso soup with crab legs in it (pre-cracked)
Of course I then had to find somewhere for dessert -- got some "yuzu ice cream"
Took the train to Sapporo Station (about a 45 minute ride) and walked to my hotel.
Got there too early to checkin (they are sticklers about such things) but they took my bags.
Walked around a little and decided to try something "low end"-- chain called "Mosburger".
Got a cheeseburger. The cheese was more mayo-cheese like and it had a sweet teriyaki sauce on it.
Not great... I guess I found something in Japan I'm not too fond of...
So I went back to the hotel and checked in, then took a nice long shower and a nap.
When I woke up it was time for dinner. I asked the Concierge for a few suggestions as to
good sushi restaurants near by. He gave me three and after seeing the line at the first (it was 90+ minutes to get in) I opted for another one of his suggestions that was walk-in. I ordered a few
pieces of sushi that you can see below. All good quality, just not as good as 'right at the fish market'...
Then I found a dessert place...
I headed back to the hotel, but had to stop as I walked through the train station at a place that makes little cheese tarts. I bumped the bag walking home and it got rather crushed, but I ate it in my hotel room anyway!
I also opened up and ate 1/3 of the cake I bought at Haneda airport ... Here are the other 2/3rds...
Time for bed!
