Breakfast at the Ryokan -
Pickled Veggies, Egg Scramble, Fish Cakes, Grilled Fish, Miso, vegetable "salad" roll, white rice.
Out and about town... the natives were climbing the walls and I was enjoying a ride in a rickshaw.
Some video of the ride...
And then much snacking!
Fried Manju with azuki beans inside
Baked Manju
and the folks making some taiyaki or equivalent...
sweet potato filled pastry...
and washing it all down with vanilla & green tea ice cream...
Then onto some unagi-don lunch!
a close up...
Super tired after lunch... but Ryokan was in "cleaning mode" (when you're not supposed to be there).
So I had some tea at a local tea stand and then tracked down one of the town public onsen/baths to have a nice soak.
No pictures available from my camera, but here is a stock photo of what the inside looked like -- really nice
tile mural on the wall.
Followed by more snacking...
Then I headed back to Central Tokyo to have dinner with a friend from Mauna Lani who was also in
town. We ended up eating at three eating spots in the Imperial Hotel.
First, very high end tempura restaurant...
sake sake sake...
Fresh scallops and shrimp
Tender river fish...
Which was properly tempura-ized....
and then some "ginkgo beans"...
A short walk after that first meal to check out Godzilla (hey, it's tokyo!)
And then back into the hotel for some high end sushi--
Toro-- Fatty Tuna
posed for :-)
Fresh Squid-
Mackrel :--
